January 31 - Tuesday
Jeanne Miller, former resident of 222 Jason Drive died unexpectedly in Latham, NY while a resident at a Memory Care Assisted Living facility. Her son, Marty and wife Macy Ellen had arrived here in Orange Acres to spend two months recuperating from his recent heart attack. They will return this week after attending the memorial service in NY.
Peg Radel, 34 Jeffrey Drive, reports that her cancer has spread to her bones and elsewhere. She would like for visitors to stop by to say hello.
Pam Cooper, our Orange Acres front office manager, will undergo blood work Wednesday to see how she is progressing with her current cancer treatment. The treatments cause leg swelling and discomfort.
Mary Cowan, 26 Jeffrey Drive, has bronchitis and is resting comfortably at home.
January 24 - Tuesday
Pam Cooper, our Orange Acres front office manager, has reported her legs swelling about the same, and her 125 blood count has gone up 100 points. She did resume a chemo treatment last week, while being able to work full time. Amazing!
Ralpy Haas, 168 Tammy Drive, is recovering nicely from his recent cardiac irregular heart rhythm and skin cancer surgery. Phyllis is still doing her physical therapy for her right shoulder prosthesis.
Karen and Tom Yoder, 205 Jason Drive, sister-in-law died the same day as Charlene Sherman's step-mother in Goshen, Indiana.
Peg Radel, 34 Jeffrey Drive, is doing well with hospice and hopes to attain her goal of voting in the upcoming November Presidential election.
January 19 - Thursday
Ralph Haas spent two nights at Sarasota Memorial Hospital where his heart rhythm was stabilized with medication. He was released and came home today. Last week he had skin cancer surgery above the eye, and it began to heal nicely. Once admitted to the hospital for the heart problem, blood thinners were prescribed which negated all prior healing of the eye surgery. Now the eye has to begin the slow healing process again. Phyllis really did not try out her new shoulder and cause the bruising you may see of Ralph's eye.
January 17 - Tuesday
Ralph Haas, 168 Tammy Drive, was admitted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital today with irregular rapid heart rate. He is being monitored carefully and hope medication will be able to regulate the heart rate.
John Morey, 1W Jeffrey Drive, husband of Sue Morey, recently returned to his assisted facility after spending time spent in Orange Acres, is experiencing kidney problems. He will soon require dialysis.
Pam Cooper from the Orange Acres Office missed her cancer treatment last week but hopes to continue with her treatments this week.
Virginia Clark,40 Jeffrey Drive, is doing well after a visit from her son Don, two grandsons, then a granddaughter from college who stayed 9 days.
January 10 - Tuesday
Mary Caledonia, former resident at 137 Jeffrey Drive, died December 22, 2011 in Falmouth, Mass.
Pam Cooper, the Orange Acres Office Manager, has seen a reduction in her cancer count with the new treatment along with improvement in the swelling of her legs.
Virginia Clark, 40 Jeffrey Drive, is doing very well. She has some family visiting until Wednesday.
Peg Radel, 34 Jeffrey Drive, is doing much better with a change in her medication.
January 3 - Tuesday
Phyllis Haas, 168 Tammy Drive, has Doctors orders to begin physical therapy for her post shoulder replacement beginning this week. She is able to remove her sling and begin driving.
Joe Wagner, 212 Jason, is expected to return home today from Heartland Rehab.
Virginia Clark, 40 Jeffrey Dr., is doing very well. Thanks for those who have so willingly helped her.
Peg Radel. 34 Jeffrey Dr., is doing well with the help of Hospice.
December 27 - Tuesday
Virginia Clark, 40 Jeffrey Dr., is recovering nicely at home from 3 broken ribs and a punctured lung. Thanks to all of those who helped with food, care and concerns.
Joe Wagner, 212 Jason, is in Heartland Rehab for therapy and is improving well enough that he may be coming home to Orange Acres sometime this week.
Betty Quinn, a former 10 year resident of 37 Jeffrey, presently resides in the memory care unit at River Oaks Assisted Living in Englewood. At this time it is sad to report that she is unable to recall friends or neighbors.
