December 1 - Tuesday

Coffee hour with 78 people present. Mary Ryman introduced Theresa and Jerry Coddens who live at 24 Jeffrey Drive.

December 3 - Thursday

40 people played fun whist last night at the community center hosted by Hugh and Faye Spinney The cookie fairies came through again - with lots of goodies.
   
Everyone had a great time and got better acquainted.
Winners were: Bob Work score 113  and won $12.00; Marion Holsing & Barb Work scores of 108 each winning $8.00 and Dwight Holden & Karla Liebenau with scores of 107 and each received $6.00. Shown from left are: Marion, Dwight, Karla, Barb & Bob.

December 7 - Monday

There were 7 Orange Acres residents at the Myakka Bike ride today. They left Orange Acres at noon and started the ride after a picnic about 1 pm and rode 8 miles. Here we are enjoying our picnic before starting the ride.
   
Everyone ready for the big ride. From left are Gene Mathes, Ed & Pat Faust, Ed and Judy Marion and Marion & Ron Holsing. We stopped at the picnic area overlooking the beautiful Myakka river.
   
It is always good to have a lot of group pictures. We stopped at the bridge and saw a lot of birds and a few large alligators.

December 8 - Tuesday

There were 85 at the coffee hour this morning. The donuts were provided by RBC Bank.
 
We had two speakers this morning from RBC Bank, Valerie McPartland and Melanie Skinner. They explained the services of this bank located in the shopping center by Beals Department Store.

December 14 - Monday

There were about 100 at the Christmas party tonight. They all gathered to visit before the 7 pm show.
   
The entertainment for the evening was the Silver Foxes from the Venice Theater. There was good singing. There was great skits.
   
And wonderful dancing. This was a very entertaining group. This is the second year we have had them.
   
After the program Santa and two of his elves showed up. Santa passed out gifts to everyone.
   
His elves helped in the gift giving. It was a good evening for all.

December 15 - Tuesday

There were 72 at the coffee hour this morning.
 
Vice President Marti Gauthier is filling in for President Ed Marian while he is up north for the holidays.

December 16 - Wednesday

This is the video that was broadcast on channel 6 SNN on Tuesday evening.

December 19 - Saturday

There were 13 Orange Residents that took the bus trip today to The Broadway Palms. The buffet, of course, was terrific. With plenty of good food and deserts.
   
The play was A Christmas Carol. This version was a little different because it was a musical.
   
These are the Christmas lights at Grace Baptist Church. If you get a chance, see them.

December 20 - Sunday

There were 26 people doing our caroling for the shut-ins tonight using seven golf carts. It took about 1.5 hours to visit the 14 homes. It was a cool night and a lot of fun. Mary Ryman did a great job of guiding our way. When we got back to the clubhouse Ward and Audrey had the hot chocolate and cookies ready for us.

December 22 - Tuesday

There were 65 at the coffee hour this morning.

December 24 - Thursday

Luminaries

Beautiful luminaries tonight in all parts of Orange Acres. This is on Tammy Drive looking south. Here is the corner of Loren Drive and Jeffrey Drive.
   
This one is at the south end of Loren Drive looking north. Here is the south end of Jason Drive looking north.
   
This is the north end of Jeffrey Drive looking south This is on Loren Way looking west.
   
Any excuse for a party, we have it.  

December 25 - Friday

Christmas Day
 

The food at the Christmas dinner tonight was great. Edna Mongeau did a great job in preparing for the 60 people who came.
   
Earle Brennan provided interlude music for us. Marj Dunn took charge of the Yankee Swap which was a lot of fun.
   
Elaine Studer unwrapping her gift. Each was allowed to swap for an already opened gift. Bob Work Chose to keep his gift.

December 29 - Tuesday

There were 68 at coffee this morning. The snowbirds are starting to come back. The next three weeks should show great increases.
