November 3 - Monday

There were only two that took the bike ride to the mall today. They were Bob LePosa and Gene Mathes. They are shown here eating in the food court at the mall. The weather was perfect today for a bike ride.

November 4 - Tuesday

Outgoing president Mike Delaney passed the gavel to our new president Linda Burrows At the coffee hour this morning. There were 74 in attendance. Linda introduced the vice president Ed Marian.
   
Mary Ryman introduced new resident Lynda Berry who resides at 50 Jeffrey Drive. Mary also introduced Phil & Elaine Albarano of 108 Loren Drive.

November 11 - Tuesday

There were 80 at the coffee hour this morning.  
   
Our new president Linda Burrows presented past president Mike Delaney with a gift certificate for his hard work and dedication for the past year.  
   
Mary Ryman introduced Jim and Linda Barrett who live at 100 Loren Drive. Mary also introduced Charlotte and Bob Booth of 152 Shelly Lane.

Veteran's Day

 

The residents and friends assembled for the parade which started promptly at 11 am There were 15 golf carts with many marching on foot.
   
Dwight Holden Welcomed the crowd of about 130 and led the pledge of allegiance. Betty Delanois led the opening and closing prayers.
   
Mildred Steinbaugh sang the National Anthem.4 Chairman Charlie Parkes introduced Bob Wiskeman as this year's parade marshal.
   
The speaker this year was Dick Stevenson, former pilot. Joan Kapp read the story of the origin of "Taps".
   
Taps was played by Peter Minott. Charlie Parkes read the list of deceased residents that served in the military while Dwight Holden rang the bell for each one.
   
After the ceremony at the gazebo we all assembled at the clubhouse for lunch.
   
These are the winners of the golf cart decorating. From left are Joan Kapp and Dave Burrows who tied for second place and Mary Lou Lira who won first. Interviews and pictures were taken by Jamie Swartz, correspondent for the Sarasota Herald Tribune.
   
Fallowing the meal we were entertained by the fabulous voice of Stephen Ditchfield.  

November 15 - Saturday

There were about 35 at the fifties dance tonight at the clubhouse.
 
Gene Mathes was the disk jockey playing mostly music from the 50's. Those attending learned some new dances like the merengue and the cha cha slide. They also formed a conga line. Everyone had a good time.

 

November 18 - Tuesday

There were 89 at the coffee hour this morning. After coffee we had our flu shots.
 
Jeff Warrington spoke this morning about the 10 surveillance cameras that have been installed, the number of lounge chairs by the pool and future after hours entry to the clubhouse.

November 21 - Friday

Many volunteers worked today preparing for the craft and hobby show. There is a lot of Christmas items from the flea market. Those selling crafts also did their preparation.

November 22 - Saturday

We had our big Craft and Hobby show today. Here is Tony Zarrillo at his craft table before the opening. The craft tables were ready and waiting for the start.

 

 

We had the most Christmas items ever collected for the flea market.

The bake sale items were fantastic as was the lunch.

 

 
The Christmas tables sold lots of items. The craft tables did not do as well.  

November 25 - Tuesday

We had 85 at coffee this morning.  
   
Ed Marian Reported on the possibility of combined social and homeowner boards. It was decided that the boards will remain separated as they have been. Following coffee the business meeting was held for the purpose of presenting and approving the 2008 - 2009 budget.

November 27 - Thursday Thanksgiving

There were 65 at the Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon. We enjoyed the great turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Six dinners were delivered to shut-ins in our community. Faye Spinney did an outstanding job coordinating it all.
