July 1 - Tuesday

There were 38 at coffee this morning.

Gene Mathes is still leading the meeting in the absence of the president and vice-president.

July 4 - Friday

There were 44 present at the Independence Day Potluck tonight.

As usual there was a lot of great food.

Anne Hubert Started the evening by leading the group in the pledge of allegiance and prayer. She later introduced our special guests of the evening Tom & Pat Myers.

King Gene Mathes escorted the Myers to the stage. They are moving to Sunnyside Village Retirement‎ later this month and this was our opportunity to wish them well.

Joan Kapp read their history and accomplishments at Orange Acres.

Audrey Young presented special questions to the couple and presented them with a reference letter to Sunnyside Village.

Anne Hubert changed the words of some old familiar songs for all of us to sing to the Myers. Gene accompanied on his QChord while Anne, Audrey and Joan led the group in singing.

July 8 - Tuesday

There were 46 at the pancake breakfast this morning. The great crew consisted of Pat Myers, Ed Schattschneider, Joan Kapp, Tom Myers, Marti Gauthier and Ward & Audrey Young.

July 12 - Saturday

Gene Mathes has been seen around a lot lately with his new kayak. But.... don't believe everything you see. He is also good at faking pictures.

July 15 - Tuesday

There were 33 at the coffee hour this morning. After coffee Pam Cooper held our first 2008 Hurricane Contact meeting in the library. The volunteers were given instructions and literature for hurricane preparation.

July 22 - Tuesday

There were 38 at the coffee hour this morning.

Jim Jaeger brought a friend with him this morning. His name is Marco Araujo and he is a missionary from Peru. He was made welcome by the residents.

Gene Mathes is still in charge of the coffee hour meetings until president Mike Delaney returns on September 17.

July 23 - Wednesday

This is some of the regular Wednesday Bridge group that meets in the clubhouse on Wednesday afternoons at 1 pm for a fun time. Feel welcome to join them if you like bridge.

July 26 - Saturday

This picture was taken on July 26th. We all got together at Joan & Ken Russell's house in Massachusetts. We all want to say hi to all our friends at Orange Acres and look forward to seeing everyone this fall.

July 27 - Sunday

We have been having our usual summer afternoon rains lately. As you can see the water level of the ponds are up to normal and everything is again green.
