January 2 - Tuesday

There were 106 at the first coffee of the new year.
 
The ticket sellers this morning were, left to right, Shirley Dodd and Ramona Armstrong selling Ice Cream Social tickets and Alice Vierus and Mary Lessard selling Mid Day Madness tickets,

January 8 - Monday

There were four residents that took the bike ride to the mall today. They were, in front, Gene Mathes and Becky Ciraulo, in back, Ralph Bush and Tom Studer. It was a beautiful day for a ride even though it did rain while we were in the mall.

January 11 - Thursday

There were 80 at the whist party tonight. As usual Hugh Spinney did a great job mixing the crowd.
   
These are the ten winners tonight. From left, 7th place Bob Beauregard and Bob Hanes 105 $4; 6th place Reuel Detweiler 106 $5; 5th place Ann Bougie 107 $6; 4th place Gerri Shearer, Jane Moffitt, Adele O'Connell 108 $7; 3rd place Marybeth Dunning 110 $10; 2nd place Andy Bougie 111 $13 and 1st place Jean Delaney 115 $20.  

January 16 - Tuesday

There were 120 at the pancake breakfast. This was the only pancake breakfast held during the winter season.  
   
The kitchen crew did a great job. They were from left Ada Murphy, Charlie Parkes, Joan Kapp, Grace Sherry, Ila Meehan, Bob Whiskeman, Jerry Meehan and Ed Schattschneider. Mary Ryman introduced David Abraham, lot #72.
   
Bev Whiterell and Shirley Tatlock were selling tickets to the Saturday night dance. Jeannine Crepeau and Betsy Chase were selling tickets to the ladies luncheon

January 18 - Thursday

There were 123 at the ice cream social tonight at the clubhouse. The lines moved right along.
   
Lots of goodies to go on the icecream. Topped off with whipped cream and nuts.
   

Everyone had a fine time eating and socializing.

After the eating was done everyone got to watch a very funny movie.

January 20 - Saturday

There were about 24 Orange Acres residents that took the bus trip to Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre today to see My Fair Lady. As always the food was terrific.
   
The play was also outstanding. In the evening we had the Cedar Cove dance held at the Orange Acres Clubhouse. There were about 110 present.
   
Larry Williams provided the music. He played the music we all liked.
 
Charlie Johnson from Cedar Cove also did some great songs on his instrument.
 
   
The dance floor was filled most of the time with dancers from Orange Acres, Cedar Cove and Windward Isle.
 
Only about 35 showed up from Orange Acres but everyone had a great time.

January 22 - Monday

There were about 130 at the Mid Day Madness today at the clubhouse. Alice Vierus and Mary Lessard did a great job of organizing this event
 
The entertainer was Steve Jeffris who we had last year. Steve recruited Andy Bougie and Ralph Bush to help him out with the sound effects on a song.
 
Dick Vierus showed Steve how he made good use of the bag he received last year by keeping his shorts in it.

January 23 - Tuesday

There were 113 at coffee this morning.  

 

 

   
Jeff Warrington spoke to the group about the swimming pool. The switch on the heating system is being replaced causing the pool to be cool. It will be fixed as soon as possible. Mary Ryman introduced Carol and Leo Joncas who now reside at 120 Jeffrey Circle.
   
Mary also introduced Harriet Alberter and Terry Baker of 160 Tammy Drive Rosie and Fred Sztukowski of 219 Jason Drive were introduced next.

January 25 - Thursday

There were about 75 residents that attended the Living Water El Salvador presentation at the clubhouse this afternoon. Moe Warrington gave his testimony as to how he got involved in the program.
   
Greg Hostetler told about his trip to El Salvador in June of 2006. Gene Mathes showed the pictures that he took of the people and community around the Orange Acres well during his trip in November 2006.
   
Paul Darilak, Director of Living Water El Salvador described the details of the Living Water El Salvador program. Moe presented Gene Mathes and Greg Hostetler with Living Water caps complete with their names on them.
   
Moe also presented Gene Mathes and Tom Myers with a Trophy to be displayed in the hall for the well donated by Orange Acres. This is trophy showing a well in use by the people of El Salvador.
   
Gene Mathes will head up a drive for additional funds for more wells. Jeff Warrington announced the the Orange Acres Management will match the future donations up to $6,500. If this amount is given, that would bring the total donation for Orange Acres to $20,000. This is enough to provide four wells in El Salvador.  

January 30 - Tuesday

There were 104 at coffee this morning. Because of the cruise next week 32 said they would be gone next week.  
   
Wayne Steinbaugh led the homeowner's meeting following coffee Wayne received an award for his Service on th board since 1995 and as president since 1998. New officers were elected and Wayne is retiring from the board.
