October 2 - Monday

This is not the dressing room for the Red Hat Ladies. It is the layout of the Christmas covers for the pole lights in the community. They have been redone by Rhoda Kestenbaum and her helpers. Here, in Anne Hubert's spare bedroom,  are the 42 completed covers ready for the coming season.

October 3 - Tuesday

There were 46 at coffee this morning.

October 4 - Wednesday

Bingo started tonight. This is the first event of the new season. And of course with none other than our own Ray Bergeron doing the calling.

October 8 - Sunday

There were 20 that attended the first vespers of the season tonight at 7 pm. Gene Mathes led the service with a sing-a-long and a solo.

Jim Jaeger brought a great message to the group.

October 10 - Tuesday

There were 49 at coffee this morning.

Mary Ryman, center, interviewed Jody Guzzo at 91 loren, left and Bob Beauregard at 101 Jason, right. Jody's husband Jim was not able to be at coffee this morning.

October 11 - Wednesday

There were 16 from Orange Acres that went on the bus trip to Broadway Palms in Ft. Myers to see The Full Monte today. As usual, the food was fantastic. The play was very funny and very well done even though it was a little risqué.

October 18 - Tuesday

There were 65 at coffee this morning. Mary Ryman introduced Bobbi and Dwight Holden who live at 225 Jason Drive.

October 24 - Tuesday

There were 68 at coffee this morning.  As you can see almost everyone wore a coat this morning. The temperature dropped into the 50's this morning. Now that's really cold.

Mary Ryman introduced Jeannine and Romeo Crepeau who live at 32 Jeffrey Drive. Mary also introduced Joan Wood and Robert Lizotte who live at 229 Jason Drive.

October 26 - Thursday

There were twenty Orange Acres residents that went on the Mystery Tour today. Our first stop was "Flatwoods Adventure".

This was a tour of a real Florida working ranch. We had naturalists conducting the tour aboard two tour busses. They were very knowledgeable about the area.

Our next stop was lunch at Saddlebrook Country Club where we had a great lunch in a private dinning area.

The final stop was a school for skydiving where we got to watch an actual jump in progress. About ten jumpers boarded the plane. We got to see all the jumps and the beautiful landings.

October 30 - Monday

There were 22 present at the first beach party of the season. The meal was great and this shows those grouped for the sing-a-long after the meal.

Some were still cleaning up when the music started. Gene Mathes led the sing-a-long and performed a few numbers of his own using his "QChord".

The beach was wonderful but the water temperature was already down to 72º.

October 31 - Tuesday

There were 72 that attended the Thanksgiving potluck tonight.

As usual the food was fantastic. Many were in costumes. Here are the potluck chairpersons Ward and Audrey Young.

Here is the "Beauty and the Beast" Lorraine Labonte and Gene Mathes. The judges for the costumes were, left to right, Marj Dunn, Dave Walworth, Greg Ferritto and Bev Whiterell. They had a very difficult job tonight.

There were 26 attendees that came with costumes. As you can see they were all very good.

The winners were left to right, Bob Gordon & Liz Bond, Ward & Audrey Young, & Tony & Irene Zarrillo and Gene Mathes. Honorable mention went to Bev & Marcia Ferritto.
