June 6 - Tuesday

There were 39 at coffee this morning. Following the coffee hour there was a hurricane preparedness meeting in the library led by Pam Cooper.

June 13 - Tuesday

There were 34 at the pancake breakfast this morning.
Gene and Pam Rickels' Sunday School class in Ohio had a Western cookout, so they decided to be different and go as "Injuns."  The weather has been quite chilly and they are missing the warm Florida sunshine.

June 17 - Saturday

My friend and I rode the new bike trail from Palmer Ranch Pky to Venice today. There is almost 10 miles of shell and gravel base that can be ridden on. It has replaced the old railway that was there. There are bridges that must be finished and it will be blacktopped.

We started at and returned to Publix making a 23 mile trip. There were about three very short bridges like this that you can walk the bike across. This is the bridge in Venice that cannot be crossed without carrying the bike across. This is as far as we went. The trail continues beyond this bridge.

June 19 - Monday

There were 15 that attended the pool party this evening. Showers earlier in the day did not discourage attendance. Great fellowship and great food was shared by all.

Following the meal we had the usual sing-a-long led by Gene Mathes.

June 20 - Tuesday

There were 38 at coffee this morning.

Five bikers took a 22 mile ride through Myakka Park today. They were Gene Mathes, Dave Walworth and three of their friends from outside of Orange Acres.

This is a picture of the beautiful tree lined roads through the park.

This is a friend, Fred Frank, on the walkway through the trees. Here is the beautiful view from the top of the observation tower.

June 27 - Tuesday

There were 42 at coffee this morning.

Shown here is Alma Hallums enjoying the friendship at the coffee hour.
