February 2 - Thursday

There were 122 at the pot luck tonight. As usual the food was great and plentiful.
 

Pot Luck Chairperson Phyllis Haas filled in for Alice Stump tonight and welcomed everyone. Alice Stump organized the pot luck but had to leave town before the event. Ed Sensenbrenner had the blessing for the food.

 

Entertainment Chairperson Irene Zarrillo introduced the entertainers for tonight. The Flurrys did a great job of entertaining us with lots of old songs and good jokes.

February 4 - Saturday

There was a good crowd on hand tonight for the coronation of the new King and Queen.
 

The final tribute was paid to the currently reigning King and Queen, Jerry and Ila Meehan,  before the de-throning.
 
Jim and Mary Lessard were crowned the new Orange Acres King and Queen with all the proper ceremonies.
 

Of course refreshments followed as at all events in Orange Acres.
 


February 6 - Monday

There were 10 that participated in the Bike Ride to the Mall today at 11 am. They are, from left to right, Lorraine Labonte, in back her friends Bob & Jan Wilkinson, in front Joan Kapp's daughter Jodi Phinney, Becky Ciraulo, Jim Lessard, Tom Studer, Gene Mathes and Phyllis & Ralph Haas.
 

Joining the group for lunch in the food court at the mall were Joan Kapp and Mary Lessard at the far end on the left. It was indeed a fine day for the bike ride.
 


February 7 - Tuesday

There were 152 at coffee this morning. The donuts were paid for by the four Shriners who live in Orange Acres.
 

Oscar Cloutier, Third Vice President of the Sahib Shrine was the guest of Harold Ryman.
 
Mr. Cloutier presented a very interesting movie showing the work they do in helping youngsters recover from serious body defects.
 

Here's our Chaplain Jim Jaeger, with Reg Tays, praying for a good attendance at the Men's Dinner to be held at the Stoneybrook Golf Club on February 16.
 


February 9 - Wednesday

Here are just some of the ladies that attended the Ladies Luncheon and Fashion Show at Stony Brook today.

February 12 - Sunday

There were over 50 at the vespers tonight.
 

Ed Sensenbrenner gave a great sermon on "Where Do We Place Our Hate."
 


February 13 - Monday

Four Orange Acres residents went to the FMO meeting at Venice Isles today. The April 9 meeting will be at Orange Acres. John Ruggeri was there to update everyone on insurance information.

February 14 - Tuesday

There were 154 at coffee this morning.
 

50th Anniversary Party

Rev. Joe Stump was the MC for the 50th Anniversary Celebration this morning following the coffee hour. Everyone enjoyed his great humor. These are the two couples honored for their 50th anniversaries. Kent & Ramona Armstrong on the left and Ron & Marion Holsing on the right.

 

The interviews were conducted and read by Joyce Mansfield. Gifts from the association were presented to each couple by Ila Meehan.

 

Music was provided by our trio consisting of Joan Kapp, Alice Vierus and Dick Vierus. Chef Anne Hubert presented each couple with an anniversary cake.

Ice Cream Social and Movie

There were 158 people at the Ice Cream Social tonight They patiently awaited their servings.

 

The serving people did a great job of getting everyone through. After the ice cream there were about 50 of them stayed to watch the movie "Cinderella Man."  

February 16 - Thursday

There were 32 men at the men's luncheon today at Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club.

 

Chairman Reg Tays did a great job of organizing it. Kent Armstrong won the door prize for dinner for two at Stoneybrook.

Moe Warrington Gave a presentation of his work with "Living Water International" in El Salvador. It was a great presentation and everyone enjoyed it.
 

February 18 - Saturday

Here, the annual flea market is about to begin. Everything is in place and ready.
The crowd is lined up waiting for the door to open.
The bake sale items are all laid out. The doors have been opened and here comes the buyers.
The cashiers are ready for the purchases.
The place is packed with customers for a big day of sales. And lunch is being served.

February 21 - Tuesday

There were 128 at coffee this morning. A business meeting followed the coffee hour at which a change to the bylaws was approved making the term of all offices one year instead of two.
 

Mary Ryman is shown here selling raffle tickets for the beautiful lamp made by Rev. Joe Stump. Tickets are $1 each, or 3 for $2 and the raffle will be held Sports Day.


 


February 28 - Tuesday

There were 146 at coffee this morning.
 

Mary Ryman introduced new residents Ed and Pat Faust this morning. They live at 179 Jeffrey Drive. Caroline Turner introduced new resident Kay Koch (Cook). Kay live at 214 Jason Drive.
