These pictures progress from top to bottom

April 1 - Saturday

We have been without rain for a long time. You can see by the pond banks that the water is really low.

There was a neighborhood going away party today at the home of Anne Hubert to say good by to Bill & Felecia Weymouth and Lyle & Gladys Moore. There were about 32 in attendance.

April 3 - Monday

There were four residents that took the bike ride to the Sarasota Square Mall today at 11 am. They were, from left, Jim Lessard, Gene Mathes, Becky Ciraulo and Dave Walworth.

April 4 - Tuesday

There were 126 at coffee this morning.

Mary Ryman introduced Jan Mazer to the Orange Acres residents this morning.

April 5 - Wednesday

Joe Stump fish story #2.. I caught another Monday or the same one who grew a little. I don't think I will fish there anymore until it rains. I think the fish are under quite a strain and may be pressed for food. We measured this one before putting it  back. It was exactly 20 inches. Sure was fun landing it.

April 6 - Thursday

There were about 110 at the pot luck tonight at the clubhouse. The entertainment was the Maple Sugar Serenaders. They did a great job playing the music we all knew and loved.

April 8 - Saturday

This Sand Hill Crane family was spotted in the park which includes two little ones. There were 50 residents attending the Living Water El Salvador presentation at the clubhouse this afternoon.

Moe Warrington introduced the director, Paul Darilek. Paul Darilek, director of Living Water El Salvador, gave a great presentation on the work being done to provide water wells in El Salvador.

April 9 - Sunday

There were 41 at the vesper supper tonight. We had a song time followed by a great message by our own Joe Stump.

April 10 - Monday

There were 60 in attendance at the last FMO meeting of the season. This month's meeting was held at the Orange Acres Clubhouse.

Our representative to the FMO, Sterling Emerson, introduced Jeff Warrington. Jeff welcomed the FMO to our facilities. Following the meeting, Patti Highland provided great entertainment with her beautiful singing.

April 11 - Tuesday

There were 104 at coffee this morning.

We welcomed Leo Sharpe's son, Kevin, and grandson, Sam to the park.
Tom Myers talked about the donations we can make to the Living Water International, and gave us a challenge to support the drilling of a well in El Savador.  One well can be dug for $5000 and the lives of many young children can be spared.  Lack of clean water is the number one killer of children under five.  If your hearts were touched by Mo's presentation on Saturday, and by what Tom shared with us today, please bring your generous contribution to the coffee hour.  Please specify on the memo part of your check that this is for El Savador.

April 18 - Tuesday

There were 110 at coffee this morning. We should have about a dozen leaving each week for a while.

Mary Ryman interviewed Jean Owen this morning. Jean is from Goshen Indiana and will be living at 166 Tammy Drive.

April 20 - Thursday

The weather has been great for being in the pool. Today was no exception with the temperature in the upper 80's.

April 24 - Monday

There were 17 that attended the last beach party of the season today. Great weather and lots of good food.

The hot dogs, hamburgers and sausage smelled great. A great sing-a-long with Dick Vierus and Gene Mathes.

April 25 - Tuesday

There were 112 at coffee this morning. It was a special day for the Red Hats being their anniversary. The Red Hats bought the donuts for everyone this morning.

Liz Bond introduced the Red Hat ladies to provide their part of the program this morning. Alice Vierus and Joan Kapp sang a special duet accompanied by Nancy Burke.

Some of the ladies did a little song and dance for us. Then there are always the phonies like Gene Rickles that try to get in on the act.

Mary Ryman introduced new resident Joan Bonaro to the members this morning. Joan Kapp presented Gene Mathes with a stuffed pig from the Super Seniors program last Friday morning. It seems that Gene didn't stay for the drawing and someone put in his name and it was drawn first. He hadn't been entering the drawing because he had no desire to win a stuffed animal.

After the coffee hour Jeff Odair from the Florida Department of Community Affairs presented a manufactured home storm preparedness seminar to the residents. There were about 75 in attendance. Our lunch was provided by The Florida Department of Community Affairs via a subgrant to the Federation of Manufactured Home Owners of Florida Inc.
