These pictures progress from top to bottom

July 3 - Sunday

Gene Mathes finally bought his truck. He traded his Cadillac in on a 2003 Dodge Dakota. Gene said that he really never was a Cadillac guy.

July 4 - Monday

The 4th of July parade formed at the clubhouse at  2 pm with nine units decorated in red, white and blue.

Gene Mathes led the parade on his decorated Honda motorcycle down almost every street in the park.

Betty Delanois  was in charge of the pot luck tonight and opened with the blessing.

There was more than enough food and as usual it was great.

There were 42 attended the potluck at 6 pm.

After the meal, Gene Mathes led the group in the pledge of allegiance and the singing of patriotic songs. About 30 of the members remained for the movie which was "Serendipity". It was a very enjoyable movie.

July 5 - Tuesday

There were 33 at coffee this morning.

July 7 - Thursday

An article appeared in yesterday's Sarasota Herald Tribune about the bluegrass jam sessions held at Bee Ridge Park every Thursday evening at 7 pm. Gene Mathes went there tonight and took this picture of 15 to 20 people participation with instruments. There were also about 150 listeners. If you go, take a chair. Lots of good music.

July 9 - Saturday

This is a picture of Pauline Yoder with her family and the fish she caught in Alaska. Pauline is in the red hat. Others in the picture from right to left are: her daughter Lou, Lou's husband Jerry, son Joel, son Josh and Josh's wife Kendall. The picture was taken the end of May.

July 10 - Sunday

The storm has passed after lots of rain and strong winds. This home at 218 Jason Drive was the only one with any damage and it looks as if it should be easy to fix.

July 11 - Monday

These four Wood Cranes were spotted in the gazebo park today. No one remembers seeing these birds here before.

July 12 - Tuesday

There were 37 at the pancake breakfast this morning. President Gene Mathes suggested that we have a 50's Sock Hop in the near future using 50's music available on the internet. Everyone seemed very excited about it. It will probably happen soon after the internet is available in the clubhouse, which is planned for the beginning of August.

July 16 - Saturday

These are the new desks that Warringtons provided for the clubhouse. They will be used as computer workstations for members and guests of Orange Acres. They also purchased a new lectern and had the support posts enclosed in wood. That completes the rec hall remodeling.

July 19 - Tuesday

There were 26 at coffee this morning.

July 24 - Sunday

The Drum Circle is still going strong at Siesta Key beach every Sunday evening at 6 pm.  Because of the rain it was held in the pavilion tonight.

July 25 - Monday

There were 15 that attended the pool party this afternoon. They had fun playing with toys in the water. They decided that it was much more comfortable to eat and have our sing-a-long in the clubhouse.

July 26 - Tuesday

There were 40 at coffee this morning. A big jump from what we'd been having. We ran out of donuts of course.

July 27 - Wednesday

We had a great trip to Alaska, Yukon and North West Territories. These are fish we caught in Alaska. The white ones are halibut caught in Homer. These fish weighed between 50 and 85 pounds each. The fish shown with the boat is a 57 pound King Salmon from the Kenai River.
