November 2 - Tuesday

There were 112 at coffee this morning. The donuts were not served till 8 am but it went smoothly. We did run out at the last table. We also ran out of coffee. That was because of all the returned residents.

 

Resident Association past president Gladys Bowman opened the meeting and turned the gavel over to incoming president Gene Mathes.

November 3 - Wednesday

The Red Hat Society Ladies all met at Hooters today. They had a sing along, "How much is that Red Hat in the window" plus they all sang Happy Birthday to Mary Lessard (11/3)  and Bev Ferritto (11/28) pictured in the center.

November 4 - Thursday

Just before sunset these two ultra-light vehicles flew over Orange Acres. They are one man vehicles almost like a parachute with a motor.

November 6 - Saturday

Here are most of the 20 some Orange Acres Residents that went to the barbeque picnic and jamboree at the Christian retreat east of Bradenton tonight. The food was good and the outdoor music was fantastic.

November 8 - Monday

The FMO Meeting was held at Venice Isle Estates today. Eleven Orange Acres Residents attended the meeting. They are shown here enjoying coffee and cookies prior to the meeting.

The entertainment before the meeting was Patty Highland. She did a great job with her music.

November 9 - Tuesday

There were 102 residents at the coffee hour this morning.

Jeff Warrington talked about the remodeling of the clubhouse and hurricane issues. He announced that the coffee hour will have to be cancelled next week.

Tonight a dozen of Fran Walton's neighbors stopped by to serenade her with songs that had their lyrics changed to Red Hat lyrics. As you can see they wore red hats too.

November 11 - Thursday

The Veteran's Day parade lined up at the clubhouse and got underway at 11 am. Charlie Parkes was the organizer for all of the festivities and he did a great job. The parade marshal this year was Buster Whiterell.

There were golf carts, two wheelers, Three wheelers and walkers. This is Liz Bond on her three wheeler.

There were about 162 people come out for the parade and program.

November 13 - Saturday

On November 13, these 18 Orange Acres Residents traveled to Branson Missouri for a four day stay. They returned on Wednesday evening about 7 pm. Altogether there were about 50 went on the trip with Ship & Shore Travel Inc. from the Sarasota area. Click here to see the pictures of the trip.

November 14 - Sunday

Our own Joe Stump brought the message at the vespers meeting tonight.  There were about 40 people there to hear this great message.

November 18 - Thursday

There was a meeting at our clubhouse tonight for people in the community to update them on the progress in stopping Sunrise Golf Course from being replaced by condos. About 150 people attended the meeting.

November 20 - Saturday

About 40 Orange Acres residents boarded the bus at 10 am this morning to go to the Palms dinner theatre in Ft Myers.

The dinner was great and so was the play, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers".

November 23 - Tuesday

There were 131 at coffee this morning. After coffee we had the opportunity to get a flu shot. Over 100 people showed up for the shots.

November 24 - Wednesday

I was invited to Selby Gardens today by Bob and Jo Morrison, some friends of mine. Here are the pictures I tool of the beautiful flowers.

But this is the real reason they invited me. This exhibit of rain forest masks will be on display  through December 4th. There are dozens of masks such as these. They are carved from balsa wood and painted with acrylics. Every one is beautiful

November 25 - Thursday

There were 64 at the Thanksgiving dinner held at the clubhouse tonight. Thanks to all those who did the cooking and to the Warringtons for the turkey.

Gene Mathes put his HO train layout in his carport today. It will remain there through Sunday. Come by and see it running on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

November 29 - Monday

There were 24 residents came out to the beach party today. It was a very beautiful day for a beach party. There was a good selection of food and desserts.

There were 112 at coffee this morning. The hall was decorated for the Christmas season and looked great.
