December 2 - Thursday

There were 14 residents from Orange Acres that took the bus ride to Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, in Ft. Myers, to see "Holly Jolly Christmas Revue" Today. It was a very good meal and a great program.

December 4 - Saturday

The Craft, Hobby  Show & Bake Sale at the clubhouse went well today

There were lots of crafts for sale and lots of customers.

Gene Mathes displayed his hobby of a modular HO train layout on the stage. The layout measures 15' by 4'.

Over 20 Orange Acres residents attended the Jamboree Christmas Show at the Christian Retreat Conference Center east of Bradenton.

December 7 - Tuesday

There were 102 at coffee this morning. I was busy and forgot to take pictures. We had two representatives from First State Bank speak after the meeting. They brought 'goody' bags for everyone attending.


December 12 - Sunday

There were 41 at the vespers service tonight at the hall. Deacon Joseph Cirieco from Church of Incarnation brought us a good meaningful message.

December 14 - Tuesday

There were 112 at coffee this morning.

December 15 - Wednesday

The Scarlet Macaws (Orange Acres Red Hats) met today at Linger Lodge for their monthly meeting. There were 22 present for the lunch and gift exchange.

December 16 - Thursday

There were over 130 at the Christmas Party tonight at the clubhouse. The elves are shown here passing out gifts to everyone.

The mixed quartet sang three numbers. They are Gene Mathes, Mildred Steinbaugh, and Alice & Dick Vierus.

The band, consisting of Dave Walworth, Dick Vierus, Tony Zarrillo, Gene Mathes and Lew Gorzycki led the group in singing the familiar Christmas songs. Dick and Gene also did some monologues.

 

Nancy Bush shared with us some facts surrounding the birth of Jesus.

December 17 - Friday

There were 53 Orange Acres residents that went to see the "Grand Christmas" at the Christian Retreat tonight. It was a great performance of Christmas music using four grand pianos.

December 19 - Sunday

Dick Vierus led a group of 31 Carolers in 10 golf carts throughout the park tonight caroling to the shut-ins. There were 2 guitars, a banjo and bells to accompany the singers. Everyone had a great time and the weather was just a little bit cool which made it perfect.

After the caroling, everyone gathered at Vierus' home for cookies and punch. Almost everyone managed to get into this picture.

December 21 - Tuesday

There were 91 at coffee this morning. Many have gone back up north for Christmas.

There were 60 at the Christmas dinner held at the clubhouse tonight.

There were about 50 people from Orange Acres that showed up at the Super Senior program at Faith Baptist Church today for the program and lunch.

The performer today was our own Dave Cruise (Walworth) doing his tribute to Tom Jones . It was a big hit, especially for the Orange Acres residents.
