October 1 - Friday

The roads in the south end of the park were sealed today. This is looking south toward the end of Jeffrey Drive.

October 2 - Saturday

Some of the residents gathered in the gazebo this evening at sunset. It is great when friends get together. The residents are, from left to right, Anne Gunden, Mildred Strasser, Eileen & Dick O'Brien, Gene Mathes, Joan Kapp and Blanche Sargent.

October 4 - Monday

There were only three that took this season's first bike ride to the mall. They were Gene Mathes, Jim Lessard and Dave Walworth. It was a perfect day for the ride.

Liz Bond gave her report on the FMO meeting for this month. She gave a good sales pitch on why we should be attending the FMO meetings.

 

 

 

Mary Ryman introduced Dave Walworth this morning. He resides at 6 Jeffrey Dr.  His dad is Russell Walworth. He was a drummer for 30 years, played at piano bars for 20 years, he even sold real estate in the 70’s.  His “gigs” were mostly in Michigan at places like Mackinaw Island, Cedar Point, and Frankenmuth.

Tom Myers announced today that we will not be giving out flu shots this year because of the vaccine shortage. He passed out information listing the locations where flu shots can be gotten.

There were 60 at coffee this morning. In spite of the clubhouse remodeling, we were able to meet for coffee.

Mary and Bruno Caledonia were introduce this morning by Mary Ryman. They reside at their new home at 143 Shirley Drive. They have 3 children, 2 boys and one girl. They have been visiting Orange Acres for a long time and finally decided to live here.  They will be year round residents.  They visited John and Armand Strangis, who are their first cousins.  They also are well acquainted with Frank Fagone.  They came to Orange Acres Oct. 1, 2004.

There were 15 Orange Acres residents went to Al Capone's Restaurant in Kissimmee today on the Ship & Shore bus trip.

October 25 - Monday

There were 21 at the first beach party of the season at Siesta Key Beach.

The Red Hat Society ladies went to Rosa Fiorelli Winery in Bradenton last Thursday, October 21st.. There were 11 in all. They viewed the winery and then had a nice lunch on the pavilion.

Ann Hubert introduced Ken and Judy Mooney this morning. They were married in 2001 and Anne was the "Matron of Honor." They movved into Orange Acres in 2003 and live at 117 Jeffrey Circle.

Mary Ryman introduced Ken & Joan Russell. Ken likes to hunt, fish, golf, garden, and travel.  Joan likes to golf, read, do computer stuff, go to spas and travel. In March of 2003 they bought June and David Rodgers place at 185 Jeffrey Drive.

October 28 - Thursday

Eighteen Orange Acres residents went to Snook Haven Campgrounds today to listen to the Gulf Coast Banjo Society. You can also buy lunch here or bring a picnic basket.

The Banjo Society plays here every Thursday from 11 am to 2 pm for donations. This group also has a guitar, keyboard, bass, tuba, accordion and 2 mandolins. It is great music.

October 30 - Saturday

There were about 86 people attended the Halloween pot luck tonight.
